Overview

The GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) exam, a prominent national-level test in India, serves as a gateway for admission into postgraduate programs and employment in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

 

With a duration of three hours, the exam typically comprises multiple-choice and numerical answer type questions covering a broad spectrum of engineering and science subjects, including Civil Engineering, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering, among others. Candidates, usually in their final year of Bachelor's or Master's programs, prepare rigorously by studying the extensive syllabus, solving past papers, and undertaking mock tests to perform well in this competitive examination.

Registration Eligibilty

GATE Eligibility 2025 

GATE 2025 Exam Date has been released by the IIT Roorkee. The eligibility criteria of GATE 2025 include details on age limit, nationality, relaxation, and education qualification. Candidates who have completed 10+2+2 or 10+3+1 & are in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate course or who have completed any government-approved course in the relevant disciplines can apply for GATE 2025. The eligible candidates need to complete the GATE 2025 registration online. The GATE 2025 registration will be conducted from August 24 to September 26, 2024..

The GATE Official Website 2025 is https://gate2025.iitr.ac.in. Along with the release of official website, the institute also uploaded the syllabus and exam pattern for all the papers. GATE Eligibility Criteria 2025

Professional Institutions


There are a total of seven professional societies/ institutions, which conduct exams in various fields of engineering. Candidates qualifying exams conducted by such societies 
are eligible for MTech admission through GATE:

The Institution of Engineers (India) (IE)
The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE)
The Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI)
The Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, including Polymer and Environmental Group (IIChemE)
The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM)
The Indian Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE)
GATE Eligibility 2025 for International Candidates
Candidates who have obtained or are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India have to meet the following eligibility criteria to appear for GATE 2025:

Must have completed or are in the final year of their bachelor’s degree in engineering and technology or;
Must have completed or are in the final year of their Post Graduate degree in any relevant science subjects
It may be noted that if any candidate has obtained a degree higher than the mentioned degree in the above eligibility table, he/she should select the minimum required degree 
while filling GATE application form.

GATE Eligibility 2025 – Supporting Documents
Candidates have to submit the degree certificate/provisional certificate/ course completion certificate/ professional certificate/ membership certificate issued by the institute
 or society they are enrolled in for the degree programme.

In case a candidate is in the final year of programme, he/she has to upload a certificate from the head of the department/institute or a copy of the marksheet for section A of
 AMIE. This certificate should be signed by the HOD with the current date.

Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The conducting body of GATE set  some conditions related to academic qualifications, pass percentage, age limit etc which applicants have to fulfil in order to be eligible for GATE exam. If an applicant fails to meet with any of the given GATE 2025 eligibility conditions then he/she will be not allowed to appear for the exam or admission process. All the applicants are requested to check the GATE 2025 eligibility criteria before submitting the GATE 2025 application form.

GATE is a national-level postgraduate engineering entrance examination conducted for admission to Master of Engineering (M.E) or M . Tech programmes in various NITs, IITs, and other technical institutes. Every year, this entrance examination is organized jointly by the IISc, Bangalore and seven IITs in support of the National Coordination Board (NCB ) -GATE. GATE 2025 will be held for 24 papers. Out of these, a candidate can appear only in any one GATE paper. How To Prepare

GATE 2025 Application Form

GATE application form 2025 will be available in the first week of August 2024 . As the official notification for the entrance exam has not yet been released, candidates can check the details pertaining to the application form here. It is mandatory to check the eligibility criteria of GATE 2025 before applying for the exam as the GATE 2025 application forms for ineligible candidates will be rejected.

While filling the GATE 2025 application form, valid information about the personal, academic and contact details has to be submitted by the candidates. The required application fee also has to be paid through online mode. Premier and top technical institutes in India accept GATE score for admission to postgraduate and PhD engineering programmes

Note: GATE score is mandatory to secure jobs in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). 

Documents Required for Filling GATE Application 2025

  • A scanned copy of photograph and signature of the candidate.

  • Valid Photo ID such as Aadhaar Card/Passport/Driving License/PAN Card/Voter ID/College ID/Employee Identification Card/Notarized Affidavit with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address.

  • For foreign applicants required a Passport/ Govt. Issued ID/College ID/Employee ID will be the valid ID proofs.

  • Degree Certificate/Provisional Certificate/Course Completion Certificate.

  • Final year students must submit Provisional Certificate Letter as per format issued by the Home of Institute/Dean/Registrar/Head of Dept.

  • Candidates in the final year of AMIE have to submit their mark sheet for Section A of AMIE in case of professional equivalent qualifications.

  • Caste Certificate (if applicable) as per given format.

  • Disability or PwD Certificate (if applicable).

  • Candidates pursuing a higher degree or masters have to submit the qualifying degree certificate.

  • Candidates with backlogs have to upload a copy of the mark sheet of the final year issued by the institute where they are studying.

  • Net banking/credit card/debit card details for payment of the fee.

Admit Card

Candidates must download the GATE 2025 admit card before the exam date and keep it safe. The candidates must carry their GATE admit card to the test center. Candidates' identification proof will also be required to appear for the exam.
