Overview

 Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University conducts Jamia Millia Islamia entrance test to shortlist candidates for admission in various UG and PG courses such as Engineering, Architecture & Planning, Hospitality & Travel, Animation, Mass Communication, Humanities & Social Sciences, Commerce as well as Teaching & Education. The result of the entrance exam is announced separately for different programmes. The JMI entrance exam is conducted annually for different courses offered at Jamia Millia Islamia. The national-level entrance exam is conducted in offline mode at various exam centres. The entrance exam is conducted for admission in undergraduate, postgraduate, MPhil, PhD, diploma and certificate courses.

Registration Eligibilty

Candidates can fill the JMI 2020 application form in the following steps mentioned below:

Step 1: Register at JMIEE admission portal

To fill the JMI 2020 entrance exam application form, the candidate will firstly have to register themselves on the admission portal of the varsity by entering details such as:

Once the candidate has successfully registered, the aspirant will receive a mail on the submitted email-ID, which will contain a unique code with a link to verify email account, login ID and password.

Step 2: Fill up JMI entrance exam application form

After candidates verify their email accounts, they can login by entering their ID and password. It may be noted that "a candidate is allowed to submit only ONE form for each program/group of programs (With Combined Entrance Test). Multiple submissions of form for the same program by a candidate may cause rejection of his/her candidature," informs the official website. Step 3: Pay JMI Entrance Exam Application Fee 

After the candidate has filled up the JMI entrance exam application form, the next step is to pay the application fee. Candidates can pay the fee in online mode via credit card/ debit card/ net banking.

Once the fee is paid successfully, candidates JMI entrance exam 2020 application process will be complete. Candiates can check the status of the application form submitted on the JMI website. Once the formalities have been completed, candidates can then download the JMI admit card which will be released on the official website of the university in the second week of April, 2020.

Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The JMI 2020 entrance exam pattern is such that candidates need to attempt 200 questions in 3 hours. The question paper will contain objective/multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and no subjective questions. Candidates are also advised to be careful while answering the questions are there will be negative marking for every question answered wrongly.

The entrance exam for admission in courses offered at AJK Mass Communication Research Centre (MCRC) consists of two sections – A and B.

Section A comprises of objective type questions wherein candidates need to answer questions from spheres such as:

  • National and international political issues/personalities
  • General knowledge
  • Film, television and other media
  • Art, literature and culture

Section B of the entrance test consists of descriptive questions. Informing more about descriptive type questions asked in section B of the entrance exam, the official website informs: “This paper comprises of essay type long answers which reflect the candidates' critical understanding of contemporary issues and the media. This paper also evaluates candidates' skill in visualisation, story-telling and their creative aptitude”.

Aspirants who clear the written entrance exam are eligible to appear for the interview and portfolio submission round.

Interview: This admission round is of approximately 10-20 minutes. Here, aspirants are evaluated on the below mentioned parameters:  

  • Knowledge of the contemporary political, social, cultural and economic issues
  • Knowledge of contemporary media
  • Knowledge of film — fiction and non-fiction
  • General knowledge and the subjects studied at the graduation level
  • Visualisation skills and creative aptitude
  • Overall Performance (articulation, reasoning, confidence etc.)
  • Online work

Portfolio: When appearing for the interview round, aspirants need to carry their portfolio. The portfolio needs to be created in such a manner that it includes evidence/proof of media-related work as well as extra-curricular activities performed by the candidate post-school that is, at the college/university level.

The official website of AJK Mass Communication Research Centre lists the parameters on the basis of which the portfolio of candidates will be evaluated. Some media-related activities that can be included in the portfolio are mentioned below:

  • Production work (audio/visual media-based)
  • Proof of participation in social activities (involvement with NGOs or social organisations)
  • Published work (Articles and stories etc., published in reputed journals and magazines)
  • Internship/work experience with a reputed media house
  • Participation in extra-curricular activities (debating, painting, music, theatre etc.)

The Jamia Millia Islamia Entrance Exam 2020 is set to be conducted from in the first week of May, 2020. One of the top colleges to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, advanced diploma programmes, candidates from all around the nation and abroad aspire to be a part of the renowned university. Admit Card

The JMI 2020 entrance exam admit cards will be released on April 10, 2020. The university releases JMI entrance exam admit card for different courses in online mode as per the prescribed schedule. However, it may be noted that the varsity also informs candidates about the availability of admit cards through SMS on their respective registered mobile numbers. The admit card is an important document which needs to be carried to the exam centre. Candidates who have successfully applied online are advised that the window to download the JMI entrance exam admit card is short and will only be available till April 15, 2020.

How to download JMI admit card

Step 1: After the candidates has successfully filled and submitted the JMI application forms, the candidate can download their admit cards which will be released on the official website of the university. Candidates will also be notified on their registered email-ID and phone numbers which the applicant registered while applying.

Step 2: The candidate will have to visit the official website of the university. From there on, the aspirant will have to enter their login ID/email ID, mobile number and password to access the registered account.

Step 3: Once the candidate has entered the details, a link will be available ‘download admit card’. Candidates can click on the link to avail the JMI admit card.

After downloading the admit card, candidates are advised to take two printouts of the JMI admit card. Aspirants need to check and verify the details before appearing for the JMI 2020 entrance exam. If there is any wrong information or misprint in the card, the candidate can contact the university regarding an inquiry.

Things to remember

  • Candidates are suggested to carry a minimum of two JMI admit cards along with them to the exam centre as one admit is to be given to the exam invigilator. Candidates are also advised to keep the admit card carefully after the entrance exam for future purposes.
  • The JMI admit card should also contain a self-attested coloured passport size photograph affixed on it. Without the photograph, the candidate will not be allowed to sit for the entrance exam.
  • The JMI entrance exam venue will be mentioned on the JMI admit card. Candidates are advised to reach the exam centre at least half an hour before the scheduled time.
  • Without the admit card, candidates will not be allowed to sit for the entrance exam.
  • The admit card will not be sent by the university via mail, post or courier. However, the candidates will be notified on the registered numbers and email IDs on when the admit card will be released. The candidate can download the admit card from the official website of the university.
