Overview

Joint Entrance Examination - Main or commonly known as JEE Main is a national level entrance exam conducted by NTA to offer admission to B. E /B. Tech, B. Plan and B. Arch courses at the IIITs (Indian Institute of Information Technology), NITs (National Institute of Technology) and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) across the country.

Only the top 2.5 lakh score holders in JEE Main 2020 will be eligible to apply for JEE Advanced for admission to various undergraduate engineering programmes offered by IITs in India. The counselling cum seat allotment for all the IITs, NITs, IIITs and CFTIs will be organised and managed by the Join Seat Allocation Authority (JOSAA). In 2019, 107 institutes participated in JOSAA Counselling.

JEE Main 2020 Admit Card

The NTA will release JEE Main 2020 admit card date for the April session after April 15. Registered candidates can download the admit card from the official website. The admit card is an essential document that must be carried to the examination hall. The authority will inform candidates about the release of admit card through registered email ID and mobile number.

Steps to download JEE Main 2020 Admit Card

  • Visit the official website
  • Download admit card by entering application number and password and date of birth
  • After entering the above details, your admit card will be displayed on the screen 
  • Download, save and take a print out of it

JEE Main 2020 Exam Pattern and Structure

JEE Main 2020 will consist of three papers. Each paper will be of three hours. JEE Main 2020 question paper will include both multiple-choice questions as well as numerical based questions.

JEE Main 2020 Registration

The application form of JEE Main 2020 for April exam was available from February 7 in online mode. Candidates could fill and submit their JEE Main 2020 application form until March 6 for three papers 1 (BE/BTech), paper 2 (BArch) and paper 3 (BPlan).

The NTA has released JEE Main 2020 registration number. As compared to last year, the JEE Main 2020 registrations have increased for the January session. Below are the previous years' registration statistics. Candidates can check the number of JEE Main registrations for the last six years below.

The authority has also introduced a new category - EWS which has 81,413 registrations for JEE Main 2020. This might be one of the major reasons for the decline in the open category registrations by around 90,000. 

Major changes in JEE Main 2020

  • JEE Main 2020 application process has changed and the application fee was increased for general and all reserved categories. The payment could be done in online mode only.
  • BArch and BPlan will be two separate papers. JEE Main 2020 will be conducted for three papers - BE/BTech, BArch, and BPlan.
  • The number of exam cities in India has been reduced from 264 to 233
  • Major changes have been introduced in JEE Main 2020 exam pattern. The total number of questions has been decreased to 75. In 2019, the number of questions for BE/BTech paper was 90.
  • The JEE Main 2020 question paper will also contain numerical based questions for the exam
  • BArch and BPlan to have separate question papers.

 

JEE Main 2020 Syllabus

NTA has published JEE Main 2020 syllabus for Paper 1, 2 and 3 in online mode on the official website. This year, the authority has separated BPlan from BArch. The syllabus will help candidates to plan their studies accordingly.

JEE Main 2020 April Result

  • NTA will declare JEE Main 2020 result for the April session on the official website.
  • Candidates can access their results by entering their date of birth and roll number.
  • The result contains the scores of the candidates obtained in the entrance test
  • Along with the declaration of the JEE Main result, NTA has released the scorecard in online mode
  • The scorecard consists of name, category, roll number, date of birth, state code eligibility, category and nationality, subject-wise NTA scores, etc. The conducting authority will declare the JEE Main rank list for each category
  • There will be two types of rank lists - All India Rank and Category Rank

JEE Main 2020 Cut off

JoSAA will release two types of cutoffs - JEE Main admission cut-off and qualifying cutoff. Admission cutoff is different from JEE Main qualifying cut off. While admission cut off is released by JoSAA for admissions to participating institutes, qualifying JEE Main cut off is the minimum score that JEE aspirants need to secure to be eligible for JEE Advanced. Below are the previous years' admission cutoffs released by JoSAA.
