Overview

Lucknow University About Lucknow University is a public state university in Uttar Pradesh. Established in 1920, It is one of India's oldest government-owned institutions of higher education. Lucknow University is the only state university in Uttar Pradesh to be awarded “Category-I” university status by the UGC for excellence in teaching and research. It is also the first public university in the state to be accredited with an A++ grade by the NAAC. The main campus of Lucknow University campus spans over 219 acres of land located at Badshah Bagh, University Road area of Lucknow city, and the second campus at Jankipuram. The university will soon start a new campus to offer vocational and skill development courses. Lucknow University is a teaching, residential, and affiliating university with 556 associated colleges, 47 departments, 17 institutes, and 10 faculties. The university offers more than 100 courses at UG, PG, and Doctoral levels in the fields of Arts, Unani, Ayurveda, Engineering and Technology, Commerce, Education, Yoga and Alternative Medicine, Fine Arts, Science, and Law. With the recent launch of two online courses, Lucknow University has become the first public university in the state to offer both on-campus and online programs. Lucknow University Admissions are based on scores obtained in the university/national-level entrance examination. The university conducts its entrance test for admission to most of the course and also accepts scores of CUET UG, CUET PG, and JEE Main examinations. With a student strength of more than 16,000, Lucknow University welcomes students from all parts of the world. It has also signed MOUs with more than 70 national and international universities for academics and research collaborations. Notable alumni of Lucknow University include top politicians, scientists, poets, novelists, and journalists, such as Shankar Dayal Sharma, the ninth President of India.
