Indira Gandhi National Open University, popularly known as IGNOU or Indira Gandhi Open University, is a distance-learning university, established in 1985. Indira Gandhi National University is the largest open university in the world run by the Central Government of India. IGNOU is recognized by the UGC and accredited with an ‘A++’ grade by the NAAC. IGNOU University began with two programs in 1987 with a strength of 4,528 students. Today, IGNOU offers part-time/distance education to more than 4 million students in India and other countries through 21 Schools of Studies and a network of 67 regional centres, around 2,667 learner support centres, and 29 overseas partner institutions. IGNOU offers more than 200 Bachelor's, Master’s, Diploma, Certificate, and Doctoral degree programs via Open and Distance Learning (ODL) & Online Learning (OL) methods. IGNOU admission opens twice a year in January and July sessions. Online registrations for admission at IGNOU start in November-December for the January session and May-June for the July session. IGNOU degree is valid across the world and is at par with the corresponding Degrees/ Diplomas/ Certificates issued by all Indian Universities/ Deemed Universities/ Institutions etc.
