The Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) is a tertiary care, super-specialty hospital located in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, India. It was established in 2009 by the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi as an autonomous institute under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The ILBS is a mono-superspeciality hospital, which means that it provides primarily liver and biliary care. This focus on a single organ system allows the institute to achieve a high degree of expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of liver and biliary diseases The ILBS has a team of over 1000 doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. The doctors are all highly qualified and experienced in liver and biliary diseases. They have received training in some of the best medical institutions in India and abroad. The ILBS has a state-of-the-art infrastructure. It has a sanctioned capacity of 549 beds, out of which more than 300 are already operational, 4 operation theaters, a 24x7 emergency department, a blood bank, a pathology laboratory, and a radiology department. The hospital also has a dedicated research center. The affairs of the ILBS society are being managed, administered, directed and controlled, subject to rules, bylaws of the ILBS Society and orders of the Governing Council. Amongst the members of the Governing Council are distinguished policy makers, academicians, scientists and clinicians.
